Tips for Creating Your Own Website

Tips for Creating Your Own Website!

Here are the basic tips for those who are building their own website.
Not one person today already have or are preparing to create their own personalized Web page and not know how to attract visitors to a website to earn some money. I’ll try to write everything briefly and clearly.
Choose a site theme that is interesting for many people, who are often on the Internet. Choose a theme, which is not yet online, or is, but very little. Yes you will have less competition in the future or not at all thecompetition. For example, you want to create a movie site, where such sites are very much on the Internet, then the movie site will have a very strong competition, and it will be difficult to achieve something.
Select easy to remember and easy to record the domain name (website address). Web domain must meet the site’s content.
Site design should be not too bright, the orderly arrangement of the blocks, so that everyone can conveniently reach everything easily.
If you plan to another site to buy advertising space, then carefully consider whether this site does not come from a lot of small children who, after each of your news or article writing senseless comments that only spoils the face of your website. Do not buy advertising space in such sites, from which few people can come to your website. For example, do not place on the political website advertising banner to your moviesite. Also at your site should not be too many flashing banner advertisements, because certainly not everyone likes it, it might scare away your visitors.
Site content also must be neat, news, articles must be written without mistakes, as well as a torrent portals need to write the download link in a conspicuous and convenient place.
News should be written independently, and not copied from similar sites, because “Google” does not like repetitive texts. Try to write articles as interesting as possible so that visitors always go to your site, rather than your competitor’s Web site.
Try to do things which are not to your competitor or any similar site. This is adapted both for news and articles or torrent. For example, if you want to earn some money with the VIP system, and visitors to the same site’s content will find your competitor’s website, no one will not buy your VIP status.

10 Very Basic Tips for those Considering a Site Builder

In the past few years I have had the opportunity to see the results of some €˜homemade´ design efforts from some of the many do-it-yourself site builders that are available.  I have nothing against site builders and some of them are actually quite intuitive and easy to use.  But I see site-builder programs as being best used as a planning tool and from my experience site builders are responsible for some of the worst designedwebsites on the Internet.  If I can give some sage advice it would be that there is always a far greater learning curve than the marketing materials will let on and at the end of the day there is a good chance you will need to rely on professional design support to rescue your site.  Yet, if you take the time to learn and follow some basic rules€¦ well good luck.

If you are one of the many who choose to make your own website then please let me give you some advice.  This may seem very simple or logical but the following comments are based on mistakes I have seen made repeatedly.
This commentary is intended to be slightly sarcastic because I have seen disasters and in all good conscience need to recommend hiring a professional, even for a basic website.  In fact several of our projects and many of our contact requests are from those that need rescuing or realize it is time to graduate past the site builder look and feel.
There will always be the bold, the brave, and those with just too much time on their hands.  For those that want to try a hand at web design, I hope these tips will help you improve the end product.

1. Websites should be developed with a template that includes a header and well planned menu system that is applied consistently on each page.  The header should contain your branding information; usually a professional looking logo, company name, and other important information such as a phone number).  The template should be developed as a CSS linked file so that edits are applied across the entire site. This may sound logical but why do we see so many sites that still have pages that open bearing no resemblance to the website €˜theme´?  This is a great way to come across looking amateurish and to lose visitors.

2. Avoid using large blocks of color, especially darker colors.  This ‘patchwork’ look is very dated and your new site may come across looking like it is several years old. If you are using a dark background and light colored text then you need to consider that it will be more difficult to read, especially if you are presenting lots of written content.

3. Have a title for every page and don´t leave it as an Untitled Page or just the business name. Along the same line of reason, make sure to craft a meta-description that means something to accurately describe the page. Poor use of meta-tags makes a page look unprofessional and does not give the necessary information for search engine listings. Also a poor job will render your page useless for indexing and SEO.

4. Cleanly and clearly present your content and once you have a page style developed, apply consistentlyacross other pages. If some of the content is redundant it should be combined in the same page€¦ navigating several pages to get minimal information is a frustrating user experience

5. Don´t make me wait for large Flash pages and PLEASE don´t give me music or voice-over unless it is an option for me to turn on. Music is distracting and can be uncomfortable for the visitor (and surrounding workers).

6. If you are providing an opportunity for the visitor to make contact then use an on-site form.  The link to Outlook is just demonstrating lack of sophistication and personalizes what should be a business contact.  Contact forms are not difficult to set up.

7. Please do not make it difficult for me to navigate to important pages.  If your business logically needs a location map then make it really easy for me to find… so I can find you.  The same applies for all content but I have particular issues with sites that make it difficult to find maps, phone numbers, and contact information.

8. The design of each page should have some harmony.  If pages look different then we will start to wonder what year the site was developed and are you still in business.  Remember your website reflects yourbusiness, in a very sensory way, to many different types of people.

9. If your website is an e-commerce site, don´t put too many products on the same page it will take a long time to load and visitors do NOT like to scroll down long pages.  Please group your products by categories and subcategories so that we can narrow down our selections and navigate to specific areas.

10. Use thumbnail images for your products image and please provide the option to look at a larger image.  We can not make our important purchasing decisions from looking at a photo the size of a postage stamp.  Also, please do not send me off of the product page just to show me a larger image; use popup window or a light box feature that makes it easy for me.
